Who should we vote for?

I am wondering who I should think about voting for in the upcoming Presidential Election. It’s coming up in November of 2008. Wait a minute, it’s only 2007! Why are all of these politicians running for President so early? Are people that power hungry? Maybe these so called leaders need to read American History to get a better understanding of the office they seek.

There are so many candidates running for office, and I know where some of them stand, but the bigger question is how these people intend to get things done. I am not hearing any plans for fixing any of our problems. Not a single candidate has said how he or she would make sure that every American would have the resources to succeed.

Think about what I mean when speaking of resources. I have my list and you could make up your own too. For me, the first important resource is money. When I think of the money I make, which is not that much, I wonder what my life would be if I did not have to pay an income tax. You can do your own imagination exercise about this too.

Here is what I am dreaming about. I imagine a world where I can actually pay my mortgage payments. (I have two.) I just wrote the checks and there is plenty of money left over to pay for my daughter's therapies. (In case you don’t know, she is autistic. This is disturbing disorder that requires a lot of intervention. Unfortunately, the public school system does not do a good job dealing with children with special needs. “They are too busy worrying about how to take a trip to some exotic location of the globe at the tax payer’s expense.” So I have to figure out how to cover the cost. By the way, my daughter is autistic because we followed social policy created by the state and Feds.) Anyway, after I could pay for therapies for my daughter, we would have some money left over to pay are various utility bills. “Reminder to self-figure out how to pay 600.00 to the gas company so your family will be able to cook food and take an occasional bath.” I would still have some money to pay for the auto-insurance, car payment and fuel. As for food, we can still go through the dumpster to find something to eat. Eating is the least of our problems and I need to loose some weight anyway. Besides most of my fellow Americans are obese because we eat so much bad food. Maybe it’s a stress type of thing.

Wow, it feels good to get that off my chest. Now back to these politicians. How do they intend to meet the needs of the people of our great country? I have not heard any how to do this or that from any of them. All I have heard are the whats, shoulds, if, but and on anon much to do about nothing.

Now I don’t know if you agree with me or not. It’s really not the point because I am not running for President. I would run, but I don’t have 100,000,000 in the bank. Come to think of it Lincoln didn’t have that kind of money either. How did he win? Well, we are back to history again.

Here is the formula that I am looking for: A President who understands the here and now and has a vision about the there and then. We need a President that understands how to develop a strategy with goals in mind to help bridge the gap of where we are and where we need to be. It does not matter to me what the person’s denomination is, or what color the person is, or even if the person is a male or female. What we need is a leader that understands how to get things done.
